Holiday_wishes STEP ONE
# Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
# If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
# Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
STEP TWO
# Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
# If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - do it.
# You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Here's my wishlist!
1: Joker things. I love Joker like burning, he's my favorite character of all time, from any fandom. Home-made or bought, virtual or RL, I love anything Joker.
2:
Bumblebars. My favorites so far are the apricot and the tropical, but I haven't gotten to try them all yet, because no one sells them where I live and I can only afford to order them once a year or so.
3: Anything from my
Think Geek wishlist4: Drinks, foods, and snacks that are interesting. They can be foreign or just strange, I like trying new and odd things.
5: Books! My favorite authors this year are Terry Pratchett (I have all of the Discworld books, but am desperately wanting any of the non-Discworld ones), Charles de Lint, and Florence King.
6: Gift certificates to my favorite local bookstores:
Creatures 'n Crooks Bookshoppe and
Stories Comics.
7: A Nintendo DS. It looks like so much fun!
8: A good pair of headphones that won't come off my ears when I'm dancing. My job is to stand outside the Little Caesar's and boogie to get people to come in the store, but it gets kinda boring with no music!
9: Fabric. My friends and I have an art-and-plushies group, and I'd love to have some new fabric to make plushies out of. Esoecially fabric that doesn't fray too much and is nice to the touch, like fleece or craft fur.
10: Less self-consciousness, more joy: Everyone is NOT looking at you and judging you based on how serious you are in public. So go out and dance in the street for no reason if you want to, smile all day, hug people, dye your hair, wear whatever you want to, sing at any time or place, just do what makes you happy regardless of who's watching. The world is a wonderful, beautiful place, and anyone that tells you that you should hide your enthusiasm for life is WRONG.
